What is Text Analytics?
Data in the digital world is exponentially growing primarily due to emails, social media, blogs and news sites. Though such data can provide vital and critical intelligence for every organization and Government, deriving any meaningful information from such unstructured data is very challenging and the traditional tools that depend on looking at tables, rows and models can’t address this challenge. In recent times, using Semantic technology, a few large organizations, Political parties and government agencies across the globe could derive insights that benefitted them to understand the world’s perception about themselves and their competition. By extracting the relevant words from the huge volume of unstructured data, Semantic technology has the ability to understand the meaning behind any unstructured data and further has the ability to understand the sentiment, intent, context of the unstructured data.
Amongst many capabilities of Semantic technology, understanding and deriving meaningful information from large volume of text is referred to as Text Analytics. One very critical aspect of Text Analytics is identification/ extraction of relevant information from the huge pile of ever growing unstructured data. Using Semantic tools the volume of data from various sources say social media sites, news sites, internal applications, emails, blogs, etc are crawled to check if any relevant direct or implied entity mentions exist; defining various entities relevant for the business can be achieved by mapping the key concepts of the business in ontological form. Once identified, the relevant data can further be analyzed to understand the intent, sentiments and context of the message or data.
Veda’s Text Analytics capabilities featured in Gartner Report ‘Who’s Who in Text Analytics’ analyzes text using various algorithms and integrates the same in various industry specific solutions. Besides Text Analytics, Veda Semantics provides capabilities in Context Analysis, Social Media Analysis, Ontology Modeling, and Sentiment Analysis.
Mr. Ravi Jagannathan, Vice Chairman of eMudhra Group said “We are glad that our commitment to provide innovative and niche technology solutions is recognized by Gartner. We are very proud that we could contribute in marking India’s presence in this list. To assist those organizations who are keen to implement Semantics based analytics for their businesses, we have established a Semantic Center of Excellence in Bangalore.”
Mr. Abhijit Mangalgiri, VP & Product Head, Veda Semantics said “Our global customers are already reaping the benefits of our text analytics capabilities. We believe Gartner’s listing confirms our position in the market and our commitment to providing customers with our unique solution to meet their new generation challenges.”
