Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd showcases expertise at ‘Indian Manufacturing Show 2012’ in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), a part of the USD 15.4 billion Mahindra Group, is participating in the second edition of the ‘Indian Manufacturing Show (IMS) 2012’, which starts today at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre and runs from September 27 to 30, 2012. This trade show aims to showcase the manufacturing expertise of Indian companies and demonstrate new technologies on a B2B platform. IMS is also aimed at driving the shift towards a new Manufacturing Policy in the country.
The IMS was inaugurated today by the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Jagadish Shettar. Mahindra Group Chairman and Managing Director, Anand Mahindra, who is also the Chairman of the IMS 2012 Advisory Committee was present on the occasion. The 7,000 sq ft. Mahindra pavilion has a ‘Rise’ theme and includes displays by several Group companies and sectors including the Automotve & Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra Construction Equipment, Mahindra Two Wheelers, Mahindra Aerospace, Mahindra Reva and Mahindra Consulting Engineers. The exhibition is expected to attract around 15,000 visitors over the next four days.
The Automotive Sector is displaying a cut section of the XUV 5OO and its driveline to demonstrate the advanced technology used in its construction. Mahindra is also displaying solutions for the manufacturing of complex sheet metal dies used for critical automobile parts. These dies are also supplied to other OEMs, as well as for export. The Group is also showcasing its expertise in the manufacture of welding fixtures and a new facility has been set up to manufacture automotive welding lines for internal use and for supply to other OEMs as well.
The theme of the Mahindra Reva display is the ‘Future of Mobility’ and the ‘5Cs’ with an emphasis on key technologies including ‘Sun2Car’ and ‘Quick2Charge’. ‘Sun2Car’ is a personal charging unit which provides free and clean energy for the lifetime of the car, making it a very cost-effective solution, while ‘Quick2Charge’ is a system by which the car can be charged in 15 minutes to run for 25kms, thereby providing customers with increased convenience.
Mahindra Two Wheelers is showcasing its range of stylish, powerful and reliable scooters along with powerful yet fuel efficient engines. These include the Duro DZ Micro – Hybrid (the first Micro – Hybrid scooter in India), the Mojo motorcycle, the recently launch Rodeo RZ, and its 110cc and 300cc engines. The Mahindra Duro DZ is positioned as a `ROMBA SOLID’, family scooter. The new Mahindra Rodeo RZ with its very innovative, contemporary features is sure to enthuse young, modern couples.
The company has also developed Micro Hybrid start stop technology for the Duro DZ at its newly opened R&D centre in Pune which improves fuel efficiency significantly and reduces pollution levels. The recently launched Rodeo RZ with the all new ‘Z’ series engine was also developed at this facility. This engine incorporates the pioneering Dual Curve Digital Ignition (DCDI) technology and a patented fuel level indication system.
Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), which has been the market leader in the Indian tractor industry for the past 29 years, is showcasing its range of technologically superior Tractors and Farm Mechanization Solutions. These include the high tech Arjun Ultra 1 605 DI Multi Application Tractor (MAT) with GPS technology and the international tractor 6250 with cut sections giving a view of the technology inside the tractor. Also on display is the Compact Tractor with its cut sections. This model has technology features like Power Shuttle and Hydrostatic Transmission for enhanced comfort and ease of operation.
FES is also showcasing the Swaraj brand of tractors, namely the Swaraj 843 XM powered by a 42 HP engine for greater pulling and load carrying capacity. The Mahindra AppliTrac farm mechanization solutions displayed at the exhibition included the Mulcher, Fertilizer Spreader and Rice Transplanters – both Riding Type and Walk Behind Type. Also showcased were FES’ power solutions, including the Mahindra Powerol HUPs Inverter and Mahindra Powerol 8kW variable speed DC Generator for telecom application with Solar Panels.
The Mahindra Construction Equipment Division is displaying its first product called the ‘EarthMaster’ at the IMS 2012. This advanced product is equipped with superior technology coupled with unmatched fuel economy, superior style and operator comfort. It is the ideal machine for heavy duty applications including excavation, loading, grading, dozing and cutting. It is powered by the new DITEC Engine which offers 10% better fuel economy over rival models.
Mahindra Aerospace will be showcasing scale models representing its range of aircraft including the NM5, GA8, GA10 and GA18. The GA8 is specifically engineered to meet the latest international airworthiness and safety standards (FAR 23 certification) and can operate on short air strips in difficult conditions, making it ideal for remote areas of India.
The C-NM5 was jointly developed by India’s CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL – a constituent laboratory of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research), and Mahindra Aerospace. It is a 5-seat all-metal aircraft powered by a Lycoming IO-540 engine, and features non-retractable landing gear and a spacious cabin with large access doors.
Mahindra Consulting Engineers (MACE) is exhibiting its customized engineering solutions in industrial plant and infrastructure services. MACE has established itself as a leading player in Engineering, Project Advisory and Infrastructure Consulting services. It caters to industrial plants and systems, industrial infrastructure, environmental infrastructure, water and waste water, renewable energy, social and urban infrastructure, tourism, agri, food and rural infrastructure, transportation and logistics and marine infrastructure.
