ENIT promotes Italy as a
tourist destination

Mumbai 16th Nov 2012: Dr. Marco Bruschini, Director General from the  said recently “India is an important market for us with a significant increase in the tourist arrivals of 1, 97,000 no. of travelers in the year 2010 for overnights equal to 4,61,000 overnights, as per the Official Statistics of the Italian National Institute for Statistics (ISTAT).

In the last 5 years, Italy had a tremendous growth of 94% of Indian travelers going to the Beautiful Country. We aim to grow this number by strengthening our relations with our travel and trade partners.” Italy largely attracts leisure travelers from India, however gradually Italy is drawing significant MICE and education tourists.

He further added, “Through this exhibition we have made a strong push to provide an experience of the rich culture and vibrancy of Italy which caters to the likes of the evolving Indian travellers’.

ENIT promotes Italy as a tourist destination by promoting the various touristic aspects of each region and Italy as a whole. Putting together promotional strategies on a national and international level, with the aim of informing countries abroad of what Italy has to offer as a tourist destination, thus stimulating tourism in Italy.

Providing consultation and assistance to the Italian State, the Italian Regions and to other public organizations with regards to tourist promotion of products, allowing them to tailor commercial strategies that allow Italy to present itself in an effective manner on the foreign markets.

Organizing consultancy services, assistance and collaboration in favor of public and private bodies, therein including regional offices and agencies, to promote and to better develop the hospitality sector, as well as providing information to tourists. Collaborating with the various diplomatic and consular offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Primary areas of ENITs activities

ENITs activities fit into the following 3 broad domains:

  • Supporting the 'Italian Brand':
·         Promotional campaigns;
·         Ad hoc initiatives;
·         Travel and Tourism trade shows and events;
·         Maintaining relationships with the Regions;
·         Media relations.
  • Marketing support:
·         Maintaining relationships with foreign Tour Operators and Italian businesses and firms;
·         Training workshops for travel agents.
  • Study and research:
·         Countries with outbound tourists;
·         The tourist market; Tour operators
