Sunil Joy Kapoor and his son Varon Kapoor , ensured that Royal Oak lived upto its regal name, with its plush interiors and guests were heard remarking that the High Tea was no less than the sumptuous teas that England is known for, a rare find in India.
People For Animal’s trustees including Pratish Nandy, Nand Hiranandani, Nisha JamVwal, Ambika Hiranandani, Poonam Mahajan, lit the ceremonial lamp.
Pritish Nandy said “People for Animals is India’s leading animal welfare organisation which is working tirelessly to cope with animal cruelty everyday. Despite all that animals do for India’s GDP, not a single penny is spent by the government on animal welfare. Providing shelters and rescuing animals is left solely to the third sector and from donations from people like your good selves. It is only with the help of these donations that our combined vision for the animals can be realized.
Although we thought about cancelling our fundraiser to mourn the loss of Balasaheb, we have decided to go ahead with the fundraiser and host it in his memory; a little known fact about Maharashtra’s tiger was that he was an ardent animal lover. ”
Guests included Lally Dhawan, Reena Khatau, Poonam Dhillon, Tejaswini Kolhapuri, Anu Ranjan, Dilshad Khambatta, Luke Kenny, Dalip Tahil, Malti Jain, Sameer and Palak Seth, Niloufer Irani, Shama Sikender, Mamta Raja and Sharon Prabhakar. Guests appreciated the vintage shawls juxtaposed with select art. The story goes that Napoleon Bonaparte gifted Jamevar’s to his wife. The proceeds of the sale will go to building an animal hospital in the outskirts of Bombay.
