Inauguration of
Prepaid Autorickshaw Kiosk at Mangalore Central Railway Station, sponsored by
Corporation Bank
As a responsible corporate citizen,
Corporation Bank, a premier Public Sector Bank, continues to be in the
forefront in reaching out to the society with commitment and dedication to the
welfare of the society. The Bank,
headquartered at Mangalore, has sponsored a new Prepaid Autorickshaw Kiosk at
Mangalore Central Railway Station. After
a long gap, the prepaid autorickshaw service at the railway station has
resumed, with the installation of the new kiosk. The kiosk is constructed on a large area with
necessary facilities and better infrastructure, including a shed for the
convenience of the commuters as well as the staff. The kiosk has come as a boon for thousands of
commuters at the Mangalore Central Railway Station, wherein a large number of
trains including long distance ones pass through.
The new prepaid autorickshaw kiosk at
Mangalore Central Railway Station that commenced functioning for the last three months, was
formally inaugurated on 2nd July 2013 by Shri J R Lobo, MLA,
Mangalore (South) in the presence of Shri N Prakash, IAS, Deputy Commissioner,
Mangalore district; Dr. Kurian P Abraham, Deputy General Manager, Corporation Bank,
Head Office, Mangalore; Shri S M Mujumdar, Asst. General Manager, Corporation
Bank, Head Office, Mangalore; Shri Dharmaiah, Deputy Commissioner of Police,
Mangalore; Shri C Mallikurjana, Regional Transport Officer, Mangalore; Shri
Ganapati Bhat, Asst. Commissioner – Labour; Shri Harish Kotian, President,
Taluk Panchayat; Shri Jayaprakash Shetty Vamanjoor, former Dist. President of
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike; other officials from the Bank, representatives of
autorickshaw drivers’ unions and invitees.
Addressing the gathering after
inaugurating the kiosk, Shri J R Lobo, MLA, Mangalore (South) appreciated the
initiative taken in constructing the new kiosk and resuming the services of the
prepaid autorickshaw for the benefit of commuters. He highlighted the importance and role of
prepaid autorickshaw system in instilling confidence among the commuters.
Shri N Prakash, IAS, Deputy
Commissioner, Mangalore addressed the gathering on the occasion and advised the
autorickshaw drivers to extend good service to commuters through the prepaid
facility. He also requested the drivers
to take care of the commuters, keeping in view their responsibilities towards
the society.
