Platinum Guild International’s (PGI) engaging online campaign of Platinum Day of Love aimed at reaching out to more and more consumers, to educate them with authentic information on platinum. With this campaign, platinum accomplished high levels of engagement and to tap further the growing online and mobile space, PGI launched an innovative Platinum Day of Love Mobile Application as well as a Platinum Augmented Reality (AR) Programme, the first of its kind within the jewellery category, for the Indian market. The mobile app gained immense traction and has achieved over 64,000 downloads till date. While the wapsite through the AR has had over 1, 30,000 QR (quick response) code scans since its launch in late 2011.

Commenting on the success and accolades of this creative initiative in the digital field, Ms. Vaishali Banerjee, Country Manager India, Platinum Guild International said, “This initiative is a great example of marrying a key consumer insight of a large number of people using mobile to access the net and social media, with the consumer need of seeking platinum jewellery designs and information, to come up with a winning proposition. It is great to see to see the response it has generated of what is the first of its kind for the jewellery category.”

With an in-depth understanding of platinum jewellery’s key audience’s (women 18 – 35 age group) high affinity to mobile, the mobile application provided an interactive virtual platform to engage the users and prospective target consumers. The app overcomes the limitations of TV and print and provides a seamless integration of the product gallery via a virtual store, showcasing the wide range of love bands, helps find out ring size and allows consumers to view how the ring will look on a hand and in motion. With the ‘Wish List’ folder, favourite jewellery pieces can be shared on social media platforms with friends and family for opinions and recommendations.

The AR Programme enables customers to use their mobile phone to access the mobile site www.preciousplatinumindia.mobi . With a simple addition of a QR code on all the platinum ads in print, the TG was exposed to a whole new platform, where they could visit a platinum showroom virtually.  And that’s not all, besides browsing through the site for designs and information  on platinum, the most exciting part of the app is how it enables one to try out their preferred jewellery through an AR (augmented reality) led experience.

Marking the success of platinum’s digital initiative, the interactive program led to many achievements in the year of 2012 – 2013.
