INDONESIA TO TARGET
20 MILLION ARRIVALS BY 2019

Indonesia is planning its biggest push for Indian arrivals. The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with Visit Indonesia Tourism Officer (VITO) in India
is gearing up to lure international tourists especially from India, by undertaking
2015 Indonesia Sales Mission to India. The event will run from 28 to 30 of July 2015 at
Mumbai and New Delhi which are the two biggest cities in India and potential for
Indian tourist visiting Indonesia.
Undertaking Sales Mission to India is a strategic opportunity to reinforce
Indonesia’s tourism position to promote the country as tourist destination as
well as to attract investors related to tourism. For the said purpose The
Ministry of Tourism of The Republic of Indonesia will conduct tourism business
meeting with around 100 buyers from Mumbai and New Delhi with the following
tourism industries from Indonesia, namely: Asia World Indonesia, Floressa Bali Tours, Girnar Tour, Great Day Holiday Tour and Travel, ICS Travel Group, Indoplan Holidays, KCBJ Tours, LH Travels, Panorama Destination, Pacto Ltd, Tria Uma Wisata Tour and Travel, U & I HOLIDAYS Pvt. Ltd.ETC.
Indonesia
and India are the biggest democracies in Asia and have enjoyed historical,
economic and cultural links for more than a thousand years. Hope the close relationship between the two countries would help the tourism industries to deliver mutual advantage through
Sales Mission. “Wonderful Indonesia”, Indonesia’s tourism motto reflects the country’s beautiful nature, unique culture, varied food, hospitable
people and price competitiveness in various kind of services.
India has
been included in the top 10 visitors to Indonesia and is one of the primary
markets in term of increasing the number of foreign visits to Indonesia. Based
on the foreign visits realization data of 2014, the number of Indian visits
increased about 16.23% to 237.990 visits compared to the 2013’s, 204.756
visits. The positive trend of increase in Indian tourist arrivals is visible
from January until May 2015, 107.933 visits.
Meanwhile,
demand for international tourism to Indonesia remain strong, according to the
results reported by Indonesia Statistics Bureau
records the total number of foreign tourists for January-December was
9.435.411 tourists, or increased 7.19% from the number recorded in 2013. As expected
that in 2015, 12 million international visitors will visit Indonesia.
To reach the
target of 20 million international visitors, the Ministry of Tourism will
strive to develop new tourism potentials and focus on the three main products
of Indonesia tourism:
1. Nature
(Marine, Ecology and Adventure Tourism);
2. Culture
(History and Religious, Culinary, and
Urban & Country Side Tourism);
3. Man Made
(MICE and Event, Sport and Integrated Resort Tourism).
Postioning Indonesia as an attractive tourism destination in the worldwide
market is imperative to the success of the country’s entire tourism strategy,
particularly in India. To connect the two countries there are several airlines
from India to Indonesia :
1.
Garuda Indonesia via Singapore;
2.
Singapore Airlines via Singapore;
3.
Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong;
4.
Malaysia Airlines via Kuala
Lumpur;
5.
Thai Airways via Bangkok
It is hoped, that this mission apart from creating an
awareness of Indonesia’s tourism potentials, would also help in strengthening the existing cordial relationship
between both
the countries.
