Advait marches into semi-final

Mumbai, January 17: Top seed Advait Adik comfortably won his quarter-final match coasting past Araash Mehta in straight game at 11-6, 11-3, 11-4 to advance to the semifinal round of theIndian Squash Professional (ISP) organised Rs one lakh prize-money Otters Club – ISP ClassicSquash tournament, and played at the Otters Club courts, Bandra. This is the 120th tournament to be conducted by ISP.

However, second seed Tanay Punjabi failed to cross the last eight round going down to lower ranked Suraj Chand in three games. Chand playing aggressively recorded a 11-7, 14-12, 13-11 victory to also progress to the last four round. Meanwhile in the boys’ under-13 event, the top two seeds Paarth Ambani and Om Semwal booked their berths in the semi-final. Parth tamed Ajay Gupta 11-2, 11-2, 11-4 while for Om it was a cakewalk as his opponent Rajveer Machre did not report for the match.

Results - Boys’ under-15: 1-Advait Adik bt Araash Mehta 11-6 11-3 11-4; 3-4-Avinash Yadav bt Ashish Tripathi 11-6 11-4 11-5; 3-4-Deepak B Mandal bt Yash Dhairyawan 2-11 11-5 11-4 10-1211-6; Suraj Chand bt 2-Tanay Punjabi 11-7 14-12 13-11.
Boys’ under-13: 1-Paarth Ambani bt Ajay Gupta 11-2 11-2 11-4; Yuvraj Wadhwani bt 3-4-Mihit Mahale 11-4 11-6 11-4; 3-4-Mohit Bhatt bt Aditya Gupta 11-4 11-7 11-6; 2-Om Semwal w/o Rajveer Machre.
Girls’ under-11: 3-4-Aaryaa Ketan Belsare bt Aanya Mehta 11-2 11-1 11-1; Aleya Masand bt 3-4-Tanya Bafna 11-3 11-7 11-8.
