This International Women’s Day Honda celebrates ‘empowered womanhood’

Tapukara, March 08, 2016 –, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) celebrated the spirit of womanhood on International Women’s Day ushered in nationwide festivities to mark the occasion. 1200 female riders felicitated at Honda’s 8 traffic parks across India. Day-long festivities were in full-swing at all of Honda’s 8 Traffic Training Parks in Chandigarh, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Yeola (Nashik), Hyderabad and two in Delhi. More than 1200 women riders, who had learnt riding at these training-parks, were felicitated on the occasion on Tuesday. Approximately 15,000 women riders have been imparted practical & theoretical riding training at these traffic-parks over last 3-years thanks to Dream Riding - Honda exclusive women empowerment initiative.

Honda has been imparting road safety training at its 9 traffic parks across the country and recently Honda signed an MoU with Ludhiana Municipal Corporation for Traffic Training Park. Further to this, Honda’s social empowerment initiative ‘Dream riding’ is a unique platform in which women can learn how to ride a two-wheeler in a single day from trained Honda female instructors in a specially designed 4 hour module. Aspiring women riders, resident of Delhi, Jaipur & Chandigarh, above 18 years of age just need to drop a mail with their details on the e-mail id: FOR DELHI (dreamriding@ttpdelhi.in), FOR JAIPUR (dreamriding@ttpjpr.in),FOR CHANDIGARH (dreamriding@ctpchandigarh.in)

Honda also organized a ‘Nationwide Safety Pledge Drive’ by installing Pledge Flexes at the premises of all its manufacturing plants, corporate offices, dealerships, secondary networks, authorized spare & service outlets and at the stockists; drawing an enthusiastic response from customers. Training and seminars on Road Safety, and engagement activities like “Road Safety Quiz” and a “Safety Slogan competition” were also conducted for women riders.
Endowing 450 women with livelihood training
Contributing to the civil society yet again in, Honda is empowering females through its two Vocational Training-cum-Livelihood Centresat Gurgaon (CRPF Campus, Kadarpur) and Gujarat (Bahucharaji, Mandal taluka). Here, in a professional set-up with infrastructure in place and support from Honda,over 450 females have already developed their vocational skills including Tailoring, Beautician, Soft toys making, Agarbatti &Candle making etc and realized their dreams through enhanced confidence.
The 2 month course has a mix of practical learning and theoretical knowledge. Upon successful completion of the two month course, women are being awarded a certificate by National Skills Development Council (NSDC).The Vocational Training-cum-Livelihood Centre is a 100% women friendly initiative with only female staff – right from teachers to admin staff. Honda is also providing all the necessary infrastructure including books and training material.

When you empower a woman, you empower a family. Through Honda’s Dream Riding Initiatives and other long-term vocational training modules at our 8 traffic-training parks, our women safety-instructors have helped more than 15000 women realize their dreams of mobility and independent livelihood in last 2-3 years
