USHA INTERNATIONAL announces Ultimate ‘USHA Gheun Tak 2016’

Mumbai, March 10th, 2016: USHA International, one of India’s leading consumer durable companies, is the first to promote Ultimate in India. Taking forward this strong commitment, USHA has announced the ‘USHA Gheun Tak 2016’. The three day tournament scheduled from 11th- 13th March 2016 will be played at BPLC Grounds, Chembur, Mumbai.
A total of about 300 players from 15 different teams would be representing their clubs from various cities across India. The tournament will consist of 4 pools of 5 teams each. These teams will compete in their respective pools and the winners of each pool will further move on to play the quarters, semis and then the Ultimate finals for the USHA Gheun Tak 2016 title.
The Spirit of the Game (SOTG) sets Ultimate apart from other sports. Being a relatively young sport (1968), Ultimate is played competitively in 42 countries attracting a mix of people of all ages, levels and from all walks of life including a large number of international players. Storm Chasers is the official Mumbai team that has been competing at all the national level tournaments across cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Surat.
Speaking about the event, Ms. Komal Mehra, Events Head, USHA International said, “USHA’s collaboration with Ultimate in India is a part of our larger effort in promoting sports, health and active lifestyle among people. It blends perfectly with the USHA brand ethos ‘Play’. Today, Ultimate has established itself as a global sport, with the International Olympic association recognising the sport. USHA has been associated with Ultimate for five years now, and together we aim to reach the crux of this sport by organizing rural sports out-reach initiatives across India.” The frontrunner in encouraging sports amongst children at the grass root level, USHA International has also initiated flying disc training for kids in Dharavi, the biggest slum of Asia. Keeping the spirit of the game high, USHA is also running a selfie contest on the Ultimate India page where the contestant has to post his/her selfie with an USHA product. The contestant with the maximum likes on his/her post will get an ‘USHA On the Go Blender’.
Ultimate played with a flying disc is a 7 on 7 persongame played on a rectangular fieldwith two end zones and a compulsory 4:3 ratio on the line at all times. The object of the gameis to score a point by catching a passin the opponent’s end zone. It is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. An exciting racy non-contact co-ed sport, Ultimate combines the best aspects of football, basketball and American football. Ultimate, dubbed as the thinking person’s sport, attracts the smartest athletes from various walks of life. The roots of the game in India, for many players, come from leading management institutions like the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad where this sport is popular.
