CII Announces New Zonal Office in Thane with a Focus on MSMEs in Maharashtra

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has launched a new zone in Thane.This zone is an important addition to the CII- Maharashtra State Office, after successful launch of six others in Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik and Pune in the previous years.
The CII Thane zonal office comprises suburban areas ofThane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Ambernath and Ulhasnagar, in which most of the organised modern industries are located. The region also includes industrially developing areas of Vasai, Murbad, Bhiwandi, Palghar and Dahanu. The Chairman of this zone is Mr Satish Godbole, Vice-President of Siemens Ltd; and the Vice-Chairman is Mr Prakash Subramanian, President and CEO of Hercules Hoists Ltd. Presently, there are 84 members in the zone, mostly comprising small and medium enterprises.
The Thane zone is one of the attractive destinations for industries, as it is the third most industrialized district in the state. The region has11 MIDC zones in Airoli, Ambernath, Badlapur, Dombivali, Kalyan-Bhiwandi, Marol, Mira, Murbad, Tarapur and Thane. It also has three SEZs in Airoli, Kurla and Thane areas. Micro enterprises constitute the largest set of industries in this belt, followed by small enterprises. There is huge potential in the region for resource-based industries like Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Auto Components, Cement, Consumer Goods, Logistics, Agriculture, Forestry and Minerals; demand-based industries like computers hardware, steel furniture and information technology and ancillary industries.
