Pharmexcil still plays the game of Hide and Seek for the post of Vice Chairman

Mumbai : The mighty game of 2.92 handbook has taken a new turn. Initially under the domes of lack of attentiveness by Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil), the authorized agency by the government to promote pharmaceutical exports is now lying under the bridge of lack of clarity.

A notice issue by the government of India communicated the new implementation as per the guidelines on 15/12/2015 regarding the post of Vice Chairman and Chairman as per the new guideline and procedures related to RCMC in order to make EPC truly democratic and participative nature for better governance. The para 2.92 talks about the e-voting, tenure of elected heads and directions of the central government.

According to the exporters the importance of implementation of FTP Handbook Procedure of para 2.92 is necessary for ensuring healthy trade practices, transparency and good governance, to save the 20 billion dollar industry from turmoil.

 To address this concern, an emergency meeting was conducted on 26th April, 2016 under the presence of elite and important committee members, where various members of the committee addressed their concerns and queries.

Even after discussing on key areas regarding the proper implementation of para 2.92 handbook, several members have been constantly raising their concerns regarding the discrepancy inculcated in current election procedures and process related to it. Many of the members who were not a part of the meeting have spoken the major objective of export promotion that has been hit hard, due to the lack of right decision taken by pharmexcil. 

It is very important for Pharmexcil to conduct the election in order to renew RCMC for 2016-2017 for 4500 members without which exports will come to a standstill. Because Noncompliance to the handbook of procedure 2015, for the election of Vice President is a major roadblocks for the renewal RCMC’s.
