P.D. Hinduja Hospital honors its Nurses On International Nurses Day

Mumbai : Today, on account of International Nurses Day 2016, P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre recognized and commemorated the diverse roles played by nurses in improving the healthcare system’s resilience and enhancing healthcare delivery and quality. International Council of Nurses’ launched the theme this year - ‘Nurses: A Force for Change: Improving Health Systems' Resilience’. International Nurses Day across the globe recognizes the hard work and dedicated services provided by Nurses towards their patients, institutions and above all the medical fraternity.
Mrs. Phalakshi Manjrekar, Director – Nursing, P. D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre said, “Nurses are the pillar of our healthcare systems, serving countless patients and working tirelessly to help improve lives. They constitute the major and most influential workforce in the healthcare sector, contributing to the success of the sector. We at P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC acknowledge these efforts made by our nurses towards improving healthcare systems resilience and overall healthcare service delivery. P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre organized a conference in the hospital premise today which brought many stalwart faculties from the field of Nursing to share valuable insights while inspiring the nursing fraternity.
Motivating the nurses, Chief Guest, Dr. Manali Londe, Director, Department of Students Welfare, University of Mumbai and Associate Professor in Philosophy, SK Somaiya College said, “At the core of healthcare is ‘Swasthasya Swasthya Rakshitam’ which means ‘Care plays a major role than Cure’. Nurses should impart care selflessly. Nurses are the first face for a patient and so every nurse should establish a good rapport with patients. The holistic approach and synergy between a doctor, nurse and the patient helps the patient respond faster. Nurses job is tough and so every nurse should lead a healthy life - a life of humility, humbleness, compassion and virtue.”
Recognizing the importance of nurses, Mr. Gautam Khanna, CEO, P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre said,“Nurses render medical services with a sense of commitment and compassion. With constant changes and developments in the industry, the healthcare sector today is exposed to numerous difficulties and its ability to overcome these difficulties is considered to be resilient. However, nursing is considered to be ‘A Force for Change’ with the ability to overcome these difficulties and ensure sustainability and effectiveness of healthcare service delivery
