Mumbai : Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) rolled out the very first Aprilia SR 150 from its plant in Baramati. After its announcement at the Delhi Motor Show in February, Piaggio has started the production of the Aprilia SR 150 today and the Aprilia SR 150 will be made in India at Piaggio’s Baramati plant.
Available in matte black and white, the first Aprilia SR 150 to roll out of the plant comes with a powerful 150 cc engine and tubeless wider sport street tyres, which reflects the sporty feel of the brand. With the Aprilia SR 150, Piaggio aims to carve out a new category of crossover bikes in India’s booming two-wheeler market. The design of the bike will appeal to the country’s young riders who are looking for the sensation of a sports bike coupled with the convenience of an automatic scooter for their daily commute.
The distinct, sporty handlebar with integrated turn indicator lights and twin pod analogue unit for the speedometer are designed to be easily readable while zipping in and out of traffic. The steel frame structure of the bike provides higher rigidity while delivering unmatched manoeuvrability. The Aprilia SR 150 has an aggressive and aerodynamic design inspired by that of the RSV 4 1000 RF Factory, offering the best technology and safety for a crossover bike.
Commenting on the roll out of the Aprilia SR 150, Mr. Stefano Pelle, Managing Director and CEO, PVPL said, “With the roll out of the Aprilia SR 150, it is indeed a proud moment for us here at the Piaggio group. The first India made Aprilia only reiterates our India commitment. The SR 150 is a one of its kind from the Aprilia stable, especially since this bike is customized for the Indian market and produced locally. The crossover segment in India is in its nascent stage and we are yet to see its full potential; with the Aprilia SR 150 we aim to capitalize on this opportunity. Aprilia worldwide is known for its racing heritage and we have packed some of the superbikes abilities like performance and handling in this compact SR 150.”
The Aprilia SR 150 will be available through Piaggio’s dealership network in the country as well as their Motoplex’s across Pune, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad. The pre bookings for Aprilia SR 150 are also available through PayTm.com
