Speaking on the announcement of the 4th edition of OSH
Chennai 2017, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “Today, the growing alertness and need for
occupational safety at a global level, along with the increasing casualties at
unsafe workspaces has accentuated the significance of occupational safety &
health compliances amongst Indian companies. With consistent emphasis by
governments on providing workplace safety and developing infrastructure,
coupled with the rise in global investments in the sector, there lies a
huge opportunity for the suppliers and service providers from across the
world to showcase their product and solution offerings. Chennai, being the
second largest industrial hub in the country, serves as a base for several
industries. It has been a constant endeavour of UBM India to provide a platform
to the stakeholders across the industry in this region, to showcase their
innovations and technology, exchange knowledge, and connect and create
business, thus promoting a robust safety culture across industries throughout
the region.”
He added, “The
expo will also feature a power-packed two-day conference, including a workshop
on Culture and Behaviour based safety. I truly believe that till the right
culture and behaviour within a workplace is not effectuated, systems and
legalities can attain little. These knowledge-sharing sessions will, no doubt,
drive occupational safety and health as a priority for companies, leading to
all-round safety, health and productivity of employees, benefiting the
organisation, and the economy at large.”
Industry validates OSH Chennai 2017 as an
industry platform and reiterates the objective of the annual expo in Chennai.
Mr. Roopak Jakhmola, Tribe
Culture Change Limited
“The conference at Occupational
Safety and Health India 2017 will attract businesses that have progressive
thoughts. It will present a great opportunity to share ideas. It will also help
push the objective of Behaviour and Culture based safety, which focuses on
understanding what people actually do and the reason behind it. This gets
more people involved, encourages teamwork and improves communication on health
and safety matters.”
Mr Ankur Jain, Bata India Limited
“We expect a growth of 20% in
personal protective equipment in the coming 4 years in India. Bata Industries
will be launching a new technology in Polyurethane Rubber for footwear in
steel, metal and mining industries at OSH 2017 that focuses prominently on
footwear. The government as well as regulatory bodies are conscious about
occupational safety, and supportive of the implementation and awareness on the
same.”
Ms. Meeta Rani, Udyogi
Plastics Pvt Ltd
“Occupation Safety and Health has
grown leaps and bounds in India during the last five years. The MNCs are now implementing
international standards of safety and the management has begun paying attention
towards the wellness of their employees. These safety practices and culture
will see a further upward curve in the next decade. The government has also been
vigilant over occupational safety and health. Safety equipments,
especially PPE, have gained in importance. Hand Gloves are the most important
PPE that consumers/experts have become sensitive while using/reusing, with
features such as its ergonomics/sizes, flexibility/precision and life-span. Our
expectations from OSH 2017 are very high. It is a consortium for all
stakeholders, consumers, companies, safety professionals and Government Safety
inspectors and we will be launching the currently much in demand products like Proton
Retractable Fall Arrestor, Proton Gloves and Wind Harness.”
