Bank of Maharashtra contributes
 
Rs. 251 lakhs  towards Chief Minister’s
 
Relief Fund (Drought – 2013) 
 
for Drought Relief

The State of Maharashtra is reeling under extreme drought condition in the last 40 years, with 123 talukas out of the total 353 talukas facing severe drought conditions. The State Government has initiated multiple programmes, including drinking water supply through tankers to deal with the situation and catering to requirement of farmers and other inhabitant of the affected villages.
 
Bank of Maharashtra, being convener of SLBC has taken various initiatives including
 
  1. Sanction of fresh loans to the existing as well as new borrowers to resume productive activities immediately;
 
  1. Restructuring of existing loans with further extended repayment period upto 5 years;
 
  1. Providing affected farmers diverse type of term loans for developmental purposes such as Minor Irrigation, Bullocks, Milch cattle etc.,
 
  1. Ensuring assistance to the farmers  with utmost speed;
 
  1. Rehabilitation of  small scale and cottage units;
 
 
 
  1. Sanctioning of need based consumption loans without any collaterals;
 
  1. Empowering the Branch Managers with adequate discretionary powers to speed up the  rehabilitation process.
 
Bank has also decided  to contribute Rs Two Crores Fifty One Lakhs towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Drought -2013) as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
 
The Cheque was handed over to Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Maharashtra by Shri Narendra Singh Chairman & Managing Director of Bank of Maharashtra on 21.03.2013. Shri S. Bharatkumar, General Manager, Planning and Shri.  P. M. Khan, General Manager, Mumbai City Zone Bank of Maharashtra and Shri Atul Joshi Branch Head were present on the occasion.  
 
This  is a sincere effort of the Bank to assist the Government in this hour of need.
