Global Kokan Festival 2013 to be 


held from January 4-7 in Mumbai


The third edition of Global Kokan Festival, organised by Kokan Bhumi Pratishthan, will be held between January 4 and 7, 2013 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The four-day extravaganza will witness 350 exhibitors, including infrastructure and investment firms, fisheries, agro-based and food processing, real estate, hotels and tour operators. As part of the Festival, Konkan Tourism will organise Beach Festival in May 2013 at Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg to promote Beach and Coastal Tourism. In addition, a photo exhibition for tour operators in October-November 2013 in Nashik, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Pune, and a tourism promotion tour for tour operators will be organised in November 2013 at Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. 

Talking about the festival, Sanjay Yadavrao, Executive President, Global Kokan, and President, Kokan Bhumi Pratishthan, said, "Last year, we witnessed three lakh visitors at Global Kokan Festival. This year we are expecting over six lakh visitors. There will be many exciting and fun features for the Mumbaikars. We have planned a Konkani Fish Festival and Marine Aquarium, along with activities of fishing, blind tasting contest, photography competition and exhibition.”

Yadavrao added, "In order to bring Konkan region on the global tourism map, we shall participate in national and international trade fairs. We want to promote environment-friendly tourism in Konkan. We will participate in Travel & Tourism Fair, Outbound Travel Mart, India International Travel Mart, ITB, and World Travel Market, in association with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). We would like to highlight Adventure, Beach and Cultural Tourism of our region at these trade fairs."
