Maanav Shah & Rhiaan Jhaveri bags Table Tennis Crowns

Mumbai, December 31: Maanav Shah of Utpal Sanghvi School and Rhiaan Jhaveri of Dhirubhai Ambani International School, were made to work hard by their respective opponents before coming out trumps, winning the boys’ under-15 and under-12 table tennis singles titles respectively in the inaugural Sports For  All  (SFA)-India’s Premier Inter- School  Sporting  System, which is being conducted at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium, Nerul on Thursday.

The Utpal Sanghvi paddler Maanav won a tough opening game but went on to lose the second before he managed to find his range of shots. Thereafter he forced the pace hitting some brilliant winners to sideline the challenge from Rushabh Salaskar of Shriram Vidyalaya to script a well-deserved 11-9, 9-11, 11-7, 11-3 victory in the best-of-five games under-15 final.

In the boys’ under-12 final, Rhiaan also encountered a bit of resistance initially from Neev Kapadia of Jamnabai Narsee School but held his nerves and composure to pull off a satisfying 11-7, 7-11, 11-7, 12-10 victory.

The girls’ under-12 and under-10 finals were contested between Utpal Sanghvai students who dominated the table tennis event. Hiya Mehta put it across schoolmate Aditi Agarwal winning in straight games at 11-4, 11-3, 11-5 in the under-12 final. While in the under-10 title clash, Krisha Sanghvi comfortably got the better of Diya Doshi also winning by the short route at 11-5, 11-6, 11-5.
