Mumbai:Baaya Design announced the launch of ‘Life & Art of The Warlis'
an interactive workshop which provides an experience that is authentic,
experiential and educational, with a purpose of promoting Indian art forms. This
the first of the series of workshops and cultural tours which will be conducted
throughout the year. The aim is to get connected with the beautiful Warli art
& their unique culture through an innovative workshop.
Baaya documented
an in-depth research on Warli culture & presented some interesting facts
about the history of Warli lifestyle. Renowned Warli artist Raja Ram Hengadi
personally addressed the participants during the workshop & introduced them
to Warli paintings. “We believe that
art has the power to change human consciousness and that our workshop will
challenge you to think broadly about how we are all connected to our roots.” said,
Shibani Jain, CEO, Baaya Design.
Overwhelmed with
the workshop’s response, Roshan Kala Puraskar winner Raja Ram Laxman Hengadi
said, “Baaya has helped us to display the art form through Paintings and
workshops. I have been associated with Baaya for past 8 years and I’m very
excited to be a part of the process of promoting Warli art to the end consumer.
These platforms also make consumers understand the sweat and work behind the
art. Baaya has reached the grass root level to uplift the art & artisans like
us & has played an important role to provide a sustainable income to our
families.”
“This is just a
start and we are going to introduce more India art& crafts such as Copper
enamel, Gond, Kalamkari and many more. Our objective is to make the art lovers
truly aware and make them understand the history to be able to feel connected
to its roots.” Added Ms. Jain This Warli workshop
received great interest from art lovers of the city and has encouraged the
brand to host many more workshops in coming months. Baaya has also initiated a
series of cultural tours where the patrons would get to visit the Warli
villages and experience this artform at the grass root level. Warli paintings
& various home décor products will be available at Baaya Design as a part
