(BSE/NSE: APOLLOHOSP) MUMBAI, August 1, 2015 : In line with its philosophy of providing affordable healthcare to all sections of society with compassion and care, the Apollo Hospitals Group, the largest hospital chain across India, is setting up its 65^th hospital in Navi Mumbai.

Explaining the rationale behind this move, Dr Narendra Trivedi, CEO, Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai said, “Navi Mumbai is fast developing, and patients sometimes have to go to Mumbai and Pune for their healthcare needs. Looking at the need to minimise travel, as time is critical to save life, the upcoming hospital will also cater to Panvel, Taloja, Raigad and surrounding areas”.

Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai will be a 500 bedded multi specialty, tertiary care hospital with state-of-the-art equipment and cutting edge technology. Its strategic location close to the Mumbai-Pune expressway will enable it to provide emergency medical services of the highest quality in case of road accidents, thanks to its 17 bedded emergency ward, 120 bedded ICU, and round the clock emergency physicians in the premises.

Spread over a 5,00,000 square feet area, Apollo Hospital in Navi Mumbai will house 57 specialties with more than 200 specialists, more than 450 operational beds and 14 operation theatres. The hospital will have ample parking space that can house about 350 vehicles. It will provide a complete range of latest diagnostic, medical and surgical facilities for the care of its patients.

  

While the Apollo Hospitals Group adds a new hospital in Navi Mumbai, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi makes news as it completes a record 10 years of the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI, USA) accreditation. In July 2005, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi, became the first hospital in India and the 6^th in Asia to be accredited by JCI, USA. 

Today the Apollo Hospitals Group boasts of 6 JCI, USA accreditations for its hospitals in Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Dhaka, Bengaluru and Kolkata, the largest number of such accreditations to be awarded to any Indian chain of hospitals.

Ms Paula Wilson, CEO, JCI, USA said: “The JCI accreditation is an international gold standard for hospitals. This is awarded after meeting 285 standards and 1,160 measurable elements to improve quality and patient safety. These include quality plan, infection prevention and control and quality improvement, etc.”
