Sector Kandivli organises eye camp

 for Mumbai Police families

Free medical eye check-up camp witnessed 503 eye patients

Mumbai, 23^rd August, 2015: Mahindra & Mahindra, AS- Kandivli, Mumbai has conducted a free eye check-up camp exclusively for police personnel and their family members in association with Elite Eye Hospital, one of the leading eye hospitals in Mumbai at three locations- Borivali(West), Kandivli (West)&Goregaon(West) from 10am to 2 pmfor Goregoan, Kandivliand Borivali region.

The screening was conducted by Dr.DivyagnanSarvaiya (Gold medallist, Ophthalmology), and Chief Ophthalmologist and Medical Director at Elite Eye Hospital and his team who provided the following services free-of-charge to all participants:

Ø  Phacoemulsification Cataract surgery

Ø  Comprehensive eye screening exam, to check

the visual status of the eye and also screen for diseases 

such as cataract, glaucoma, etc.

Ø  Instant blood sugar test to check for 

diabetes & possibility of diabetic retinopathy

Ø  Prescription of lens power and medication, if required

Ø  Medical consultation on any other eye-related problems

Ø  Eye care tips to deal with computer-stress &other 

common visual problems

Ø  Lasik surgery with minimal cost

This camp is inaugurated by Mr. Vijay Kalra, Senior Vice President- Chief Manufacturing Operations, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. along with Mr Ramkumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, zone 11- Mumbai Police & Mr. Vijay Nair, Vice President- Administration, Employee Relations, Head CSR at Kandivli Police quarters, Kandivli Police station, Swami Vivekanand Marg, Kandivli west. For this event the policemen team from zone XI&XII with Dr. Paresh Vanmali- Medical Officer & CSR team member Mr.Vikas Joseph, Mahindra & Mahindra were actively present at all three locations.

Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Vijay Nair, Vice President- Employee Relations & Administration, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “We keep doing several activities for common people in the past, and this time, we have targeted police families. The main objective is to make people aware of eye diseases. We provided free services of cataract surgery and also distributed free spectacles. We are happy to collaborate with Elite Eye hospital for this campaign to raise much needed awareness on eye care.”

Dr. Divyagnan Sarvaiya(Gold medallist, Ophthalmology), and Chief Ophthalmologist and Medical Director at Elite Eye Hospital, expressed his happiness at the success of the camp. In this drive, 85 patients suffering from eye problems were treated and preference was given to aged people and children. Apart from treatment, free spectacles were also given to approx.400 people and free Cataract operation was done for 45 people to restore their eye sight.All the health camps received overwhelming response from the people of Goregoan, Kandivli and Borivali region. As many as 503 people were benefited from this camp. The event also focused on creating awareness about the significance of eye donation.
